RAHSA invites you to explore rewarding employment opportunities working with older adults. Our members offer a variety of careers in the Greater Rochester area - at nursing homes, assisted living communities, adult homes, retirement communities, adult day programs and service organizations.

What is the principal qualification one must have to work for a RAHSA home? First and foremost, you must like older people and be attentive to their special needs. Working with the elderly is a unique opportunity. Patience, understanding, sympathy and a gentle touch are among the qualities that identify the staff who work in our homes.

The most employment opportunities are for persons who provide hands-on care of the residents who live in our nursing homes. Also known as skilled nursing facilities (SNF), nursing homes employ staff 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Positions such as the following offer numerous opportunities for employment:

  1. Professional nurses (RN and LPN)
  2. Certified nursing assistants (CNA)
  3. Nursing assistants

Nursing students are most welcome to join us while you are in school, and we will be glad to work with you in determining a schedule that meets your needs.

If you want to become a certified nursing assistant, many of us offer on- and off-site training.

Other employment opportunities are available, depending on each RAHSA member's particular need at a particular time, in the following areas (listed alphabetically):
